How you can HELP. . . Top
Sponsorship: This is a big part of helping someone start their Journey to find God's Grace and Love in their hearts. We need you to sponsor a pilgrim so that they can attend a walk. For further information regarding this you can contact Kim McCarthy by e-mail or Ph: 9899 7383.
Agape: Don't forget we need your Agape for both walks (approx. 60 pieces for each walk). If you need anymore agape ideas or have some agape ready and not sure where to take it, please feel free to contact Vicki Harding by e-mail or Ph: 9874 7356.
Kitchen: There is also need for people to help in the kitchen at both the walks. There will be an opportunity to put your name down at the Gathering next week or you can contact Tova Swadling by e-mail or Ph: 9452 3793.
Prayer: Spotlight on prayer  Prayer is important. Prayer works. We are just weeks away from the first walks for 2005. Please pray for sponsors; ask God if there is someone He wants you to sponsor; pray for pilgrims - and more pilgrims; pray for great community support in the back up work - kitchen, agape, set up, pack up, prayer.
The prayer vigil is linked from the walks page on the Sydney Emmaus web site. Please visit it and select a time to pray for the walks. I have not yet been inundated with response, but there is still time. Also, please let me know if you need prayer support. Let's remember that we are community, here to strengthen and support each other. May God bless and prosper you to live as wonderful witnesses of Christ.

Pennant Pilgrims
Top
Pennant Pilgrims is be one of the earlier Groups to form in the Sydney Emmaus Community, their history goes back at leat to 1995. I spent a busy evening with Kim and Kerry, David, Di and Graeme, and Margaret. The strengths of this Group are their Support for each other, prayer and the making of agape gifts. They have a prayer chain that is activated whenever one of the Group needs prayer. When one of the members is on team for a Walk, the Group reviews any talk to be given, makes sure the Group is involved the Kitchen Roster, the Prayer Chapel and other general agape for the Walk.
Their Group Re-union opens with the prayer to the Holy Spirit followed by a devotion lead by a different person each time. The discussion does not follow the service sheet explicitly but people relate what has happened since the last meeting and this leads into a prayer time. Supper is a feast, but then you need food to sustain the intense pace of agape gift making. I managed to tie 60 knots in some small lengths of wool in only half an hour and had to head home, exhausted, leaving the others busily working.
Pennant Pilgrims also occasionally have a shared meal, or go on a weekend away that may be tightly structured or not, depending on the location. They manage a balance between support for Emmaus, support for each other and support for the local church. They regularly accept new members into the group - they would like more.
The Co-ordinator is Kim McCarthy, Ph: 9899 7383
Pennant Pilgrims meets on the first Wednesday of each month.
