WALK # 102 |
When: Thursday
28th April - Sunday 1st May 2005 |
| When you receive this
newsletter the men's team will be preparing for the upcoming
training weekend on 4-6 March, to be held with the Women's
team at Elanora. Please continue to pray for both teams and
for our training this weekend. |
| The team held its first
training session on Saturday 5th February, where we came together
officially for the first time and shared in worship and communion,
hearing 3 team talks, and prayer for one another, our families,
the walk, the pilgrims and the Emmaus community. Please continue
to hold the Team and Walk 102 in your prayers, and in particular
I encourage the community to also support the walk through
sponsorship. Be led by the Spirit to see whom you think would
benefit from a 3 day spiritual journey with others on this
next Men's Emmaus Walk. |
| I am conscious of the
commitment of all team members to the walk and all that is
involved with training and preparation time, and I wish to
thank the families who have supported the men (and woman)
of Walk 102 in this sacrifice. At this stage we seek one more
ASD for the team, so please also pray for this situation. |
| Don't forget the 9th
April Gathering at Turramurra UC where both teams will be
commissioned, and enjoy the "Fijian" theme for this
Gathering. Thank you again for your support and prayers. |

| WOMENS WALK #
103 |
When: Thursday 12th
May - Sunday 15th May 2005 |
| We have had a number of changes
to the team, but the team is now complete. The team had a
great first training day and is bonding well, and talks on
the first day were excellent. |
| Please pray for the team, especially
those who will give a talk on our training weekend that they
will feel God's presence with them and be at peace. Please
also pray for God's protection on us all as we approach the
walk, especially for rest and health, and that we will recognise
when the enemy attacks and we will be able to withstand these
attacks and be strong, as God has led us to serve Him in this
special way. |

| Don't
forget how you can HELP. . . |
Top |
| Sponsorship:
This is a big part of helping someone start their Journey to
find God's Grace and Love in their hearts. We need you to sponsor
a pilgrim so that they can attend a walk. For further information
regarding this you can contact
Kim McCarthy by e-mail or Ph: 9899 7383. |
| Agape:
Don't forget we need your Agape for both walks
(approx. 60 pieces for each walk). If you need anymore agape
ideas or have some agape ready and not sure where to take it,
please feel free to contact Vicki
Harding by e-mail or Ph: 9874 7356. |
| Kitchen:
There is also need for people to help in the
kitchen at both the walks. There will be an opportunity to put
your name down at the Gathering next week or you can contact
Tova Swadling
by e-mail or Ph: 9452 3793. |
| Prayer:
Prayer is important. Prayer works. We are just
weeks away from the first walks for 2005. Please pray for sponsors;
ask God if there is someone He wants you to sponsor; pray for
pilgrims - and more pilgrims; pray for great community support
in the back up work - kitchen, agape, set up, pack up, prayer.
The prayer vigil is linked from the walks page on the Sydney
Emmaus web site. Please visit it and select a time to pray for
the walks. I have not yet been inundated with response, but
there is still time. Also, please let me know if you need prayer
support. Let's remember that we are community, here to strengthen
and support each other. May God bless and prosper you to live
as wonderful witnesses of Christ. |

Warriewood Wonders
|
Top |
| I spent a delightful evening on Wednesday,
1st December at the home of Sam, Susan and Paul Goosen with
Peter, Betty, Ron, Albert, Yen and Bridget. The Warriewood Wonders
started last year after Sam had been a Pilgrim. |
| The group does not follow a set agenda
but Peter, as leader, encouraged everyone to share what God
had been doing in their lives recently. Thus, although the Group
does not follow the 8 points as set out in the Order of Re-union,
all the points were covered in one way or another in the stories
and discussions. |
| A 'Doors' theme developed: as you
pray for guidance and listen with your heart, you will see that
God is going before you, opening doors and clearing the way,
that he is closing other doors and barring those ways. People
related how God had opened doors and closed others, how easy
it was to progress through the open doors and how tempting to
force the closed doors open. |
| We heard a story of miraculous healing
- a friend had declared to a sceptical surgeon before a cancer
operation that God had healed her of the cancer. The operation
went ahead and the surgeon was amazed to find the cancer gone. |
We laughed together as a quirky incident
was related or as the Divine sense of humour was revealed in
another way. We prayed together laying hands on one member for
healing. We rejoiced together at the ways God is moving in our
lives, one being Paul's decision to train for the Ministry of
the Word. |
| The Group planned a barbecue as another
time of fellowship and will be inviting possible new members
of the group. |
| Warriewood Wonders meets on the first
Wednesday of each month. |
